After Christmas Shopping Extravaganzas

I feel like this may be my only outlet in which I can discuss these shopping hauls without being yelled at for being a shopaholic.

With all my new Christmas money I decided I needed to do some serious shopping. I only picked up a few things in the grand scheme of things. But here are my reviews thus far.

A) Max Factor 2000 Calorie Extreme - In love. I would love to try the original I just cannot find it anywhere. But this is so much better than Cover Girl Lash Blast. I like the big rubber brushes as long as they provide good results. The formula comes out clean ie. no clumps and goop. When applied it lifts, curls, separates and makes you look like you have massive lashes that are not clumped together. I hate lashes that just look like you globbed on mascara rather than sort of giving volume, curl and length to your lashes. I'm into a somewhat more realistic look I suppose in that way and I love this stuff. I seriously bought out my hometown drug store in preparation for them to no longer be making it. I got three bottles, 2 in Extreme Blackout and 1 in Black Velvet. I'm about to leave for Cancun so I also got their Stretch and Separate water proof to try there and see. I'll let you know about that.

B) Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polishes. I got Commander in Chic which is a grayish mauve color and Clear'd For Takeoff which is just clear. I got the clear for my mom because she only uses clear on her nails which are so nice and strong that they look fake. I had been watching some old lollipop26 reviews and went looking for a color sort of like what I got in Commander in Chic but it's a little darker than I wanted. I really like Sally Hansen in general, they nail polishes are good for your nails and really nice. I like the consistency of these a lot and the applicator brush. The brush is a little flatter than normal nail polish brushes are so it fans and covers more area but is also all over easier to apply and goes on much smoother than those other brushes. The color came out just the way it looks in the bottle and has pretty much no chipping besides a little bit I picked at myself. I am really hard on nails so that is a huge plus for me.

C) Sally Hansen Complete Care Lip Therapy. I haven't really been using it long enough to give a true review of it I think. I don't think it is quite the miracle it claims to be and it also stings a little which leads me to believe it has a plumper in it too rather than just being moisturizing. So if you are planning on running out and buying, keep that in mind. My lips feel softer though, and they were pretty chapped before I started it, so maybe this will be a good omen.

I also got some sweaters from Anne Taylor Loft that I am liking. I was thrilled when I purchased online and now I'm just okay with them. I wish I was still thrilled but I'm not really. I need to learn not to impulse buy off of email discount offers.

I am off to Cancun for a week or so. I most likely will not be able to blog from there. And then I won't be home in California but back into reality so I will be blogging from reality when I return.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Max Factor News etc

I have been looking for Max Factor 2000 calorie since I saw all the rave reviews on youtube. I have been searching everywhere, east coast and west coast. Finally go to the little CVS in my hometown and boom Max Factor. I was so excited! I looked and they didn't have the original formula only the extreme (which is basically the same brush as Covergirl lash blast but in purple). Although somewhat bummed I got the extreme version. I get it home pop off the coupon offer on the front of the box only to find out that after 2010 they will no longer be selling max factor in the US, but here was a 2$ Covergirl coupon for compensation. Now I haven't even tried this stuff yet, maybe I will hate it and it will be no great loss. But I feel like it may be a huge loss after watching how many people love this brand. Now I'm going to have to buy it off drugstore.com or the like. Anyone else heard this news? Did Covergirl buy them out?

Also, recently I purchased another bottle of my favorite hair dye Perfect 10 by Nice and Easy. This time I decided that Dark Auburn had not been Auburn enough for me so I was going to go Medium Auburn. I will never make that mistake again. Hello Brassy Red hair. After I looked up from massaging it all the way through it was orange. I jumped into the shower rinsed it without even letting it sit. I hot out of the shower and it was still bright red and if you can see the orangey red while my hair is wet, it is a really bad sign. I got back in and shampooed my hair, which I know you are never supposed to do. I came out with still pretty red auburn hair I'm not sure I really like. My mom loves it, being that I am home for Christmas, but never let your mother talk you into a hair color. I'm considering dying it again but I may be too lazy to do so. I have used so many of the Perfect 10 hair colors and I love them, but this was just a horrible decision on my part. Although it would be nice if they offered more hair colors. Anyone else loving Perfect 10 hair colors or do you have other favorites? I'm willing to adventure.

Also I am thinking about ordering a dry shampoo. It's really hard for my hair to go every other day being washed. I know it is what you are supposed to do but my hair gets so oily. I watched a review on dry shampoo but I don't remember what it was called. I think it was by Allthatglitter21. Any suggestions are welcome.

Happy Holidays to all!

Hello out there in blogspot world

Normally I am a fan of livejournal. I have been livejournaling off and on for a few years now but blogspot seems to be the trend and Lord knows trends are so easy to follow. Hopefully this will be place where people may find my thoughts as intriguing as I find others thoughts.

My recent addiction (besides Starbucks Shaken Black Tea Lemonade Sweetened) is watching youtube videos of beauty reviews. I'm addicted. It started innocently enough. I have been looking into getting hair extensions for awhile now, looking through reviews I found lollipop26's reviews on Jessica Simpson's Hairdo extensions. And I haven't looked back since then. I have developed some favorites since then besides lollipop26 aka Laura like deanne5253 and kerry1487. Some may think this is not normal but I say whatever makes you happy to a certain extent.

It's funny that I should find this so fascinating. Growing up I was never really that into makeup or beauty stuff, even in high school. It may be because I was always doing horse shows and painting on a load of makeup that would make any person look like a clown. It was sort of like if you have ever done dance or anything like that, it's so it can be seen from a distance. Make up looses it's charm when you are piling it on over sweat and dirt. My mom had the hardest time buying makeup for little 10 year old me, she has never been into make up she rarely wears any. But when I was 16 I went to Mac and had them do my make up and get all kinds of fun stuff (to pile on).

Also strange is that among my friends I'm the one they ask to do their make up. But I guess after years of putting it on and learning from girls far more talented then myself I got good at it. I really don't collect that much make up but I have some staples I like and when I walk into Sephora I'm drawn to everything. On my most recent trip to Sephora I dropped an access of 90 dollars on a mixture of Lorac and Kat Von D. I am absolutely loving Kat Von D's new line. Maybe I will do a youtube video review on it if I'm feeling particularly brave. What I would love to do a youtube review on is something I revisited at Sephora that I originally bought at a sex shop is the Crazylibellule perfume sticks. Sephora doesn't happen to carry the collection and scent that I originally bought which was disappointing and I looked at the website which is French based, it doesn't ship to the US but it ships everywhere else. I don't understand that but I do truly love that stuff. I would love to hear if anyone has any thoughts on either the Crazylibellule or Kat Von D's makeup line drop a line and let me know.

For those of you going, who is this girl. I am Mary. I live in Washington DC where I go to college, my undergrad. I'm an Archaeology major. I am soon to be a second semester senior graduating in May, which is terrifying. I am originally from Northern California. I love all things horsey. I am going to study Egyptian Archaeology in graduate school most likely in England, which will be an adventure. It will be fun being close to my family in Ireland and England. I don't know what else you would like to know about me. Let me know and I will answer any questions.

Hopefully I will be checking back in very soon. Until then, happy blogging. And for you college students, happy finals week - it is almost over yay!
